One nice twist on pecan pie is the coconut pecan pie. This recipe has many health benefits as well because coconut is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals which can protect you from many diseases. So if you want to keep your holiday desserts healthy, then you should try this recipe. Before you add the coconut and the pecan nuts into the filling, you need to prepare the coconut first. Do this by cutting the white flesh of the coconut into pieces and then toast it on a baking sheet in the oven. When it’s done, you may now add this into the filling. It is not necessary for you to add anything to the coconut, just make sure it is fresh and of the sweetened variety.

If you are not really that concerned with keeping your desserts figure friendly, then you can use whipped cream and ice cream to make your pecan pie a piece of heaven. Let the pie cool down first if it just got out of the oven. When it’s time for you to serve, quickly heat it and put a generous dollop of whipped cream on top. A better alternative to using whipped cream from a can is making your own. It is fairly simple and you can even add flavors into the cream. You will first need to chill the bowl and the beaters to keep your cream from becoming runny. Place two cups of whipped cream into the bowl and add three tablespoons of honey and three tablespoons of bourbon and beat it. When the cream can hold a soft shape, that’s when you know it’s done.

Another way of enriching the flavor of your pecan pie is by putting a scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream on top of every slice then dust it by grating a little bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, or a few chocolate shavings on top.
