Bourbon Pecan Pie

Traditional pecan pie with a chocolate and bourbon twist. This is a great pie for adults after dinner, or for a special brunch.
Ingredients -
 
2 Extra Large Eggs, beaten
1/4 cup Dark Karo Syrup
4 teaspoons Cornstarch
3/4 cup Sugar
8 tablespoons Butter
1/4 cup Jack Daniel's Bourbon
6 ounces Semi-Sweet Chocolate
Pecan Halves
9 inch Unbaked Pie Shell
 
Preparation:
 

1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. In a medium-mixing bowl, combine eggs and corn syrup.

3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with sugar.

4. Add cornstarch mixture to eggs.

5. Melt butter and chocolate in small saucepan. Allow to cool.

6. Add bourbon to chocolate.

7. Add chocolate mixture to eggs. Beat with hand mixer on low.

8. Pour bourbon pecan pie mixture into 9 inch unbaked pie shell

9. Sprinkle with pecan halves.

10. Bake pie on cookie sheet 50-60 minutes.

11. Allow to cool on wire rack.

 
Variations and Recipe Ideas:
Serve with butter pecan ice cream.
 
 

Cooking Tip

Small Tart Shells
For individual pie desserts, use small tart pastries. Fill pastries, place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 F, for 30 minutes or until pie filling is set. Remove to wire rack for cooling.

Keep Crust Edges From Burning
After 15 minutes of baking wrap the edge of the pie with foil.
