Fudge Pecan Pie

Chocolate takes this pecan pie recipe to the next level. Sweet, flaky pastry, and delicious buttery, chocolate rich filling make this mouth-watering pie melt in your mouth. A small piece goes a long way.
Ingredients -
 
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup Karo Blue Label Syrup
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Sugar
2 tablespoons Margarine, melted with 2 squares Unsweetened Chocolate
1 cup Toasted Pecans, halves or chopped
1 (9 inch) Unbaked Pastry Shell
 
Preparation:
 
1. Preheat oven to 400 F

2. Combine all ingredients for pie filling in a medium size mixing bowl, add pecans last.

3. Pour pecan pie mix into pastry shell.

4. Bake 15 minutes at 400 F.

5. Reduce oven heat to 350 F., bake 35 minutes longer.

6. Center of pie will be slightly soft. Outer edges of filling should be set, pie crust should be golden brown.

7. Remove from oven. Allow pie to cool. Refrigerate an additional 2 hours.

Toasting Pecans
Preheat oven to 350 F. Bake 5-7 minutes, until light golden brown. Stir every half minute.

Cooking Tip

Watch the Edges
If the pie begins to brown too quickly along the edge, wrap a small amount of aluminum foil around the edge of the pie to stop the loss of moisture, and stop the browning.
