Pie Crust

Quick, easy homemade pie crust recipe Combine flour, salt, some shortening, and a little water before shaping. Perfect pie crust for use in making a pecan pie.
Ingredients -
 
1 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/3 cup Shortening
4 or 5 tablespoons Cold Water
 
Preparation:
 
1. Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.

2. Using a pastry knife, cut in shortening until pieces are the size of peas.

3. Add water one tablespoon at a time.

4. Form a small ball of dough each time you add water.

5. Push the moistened dough ball to the side of the bowl.

6. Continue adding tablespoons of water until all flour is moistened

7. Form dough into one ball.

8. Shape piecrust.

Cooking Tip

Shaping Pie Crusts
Slightly flatten dough with your hands. Roll dough from center outward into 12 inch diameter circle. Transfer dough into 9 inch pie plate. Trim pastry ½” beyond pie plate edge. Crimp edge as desired.

Cooking Tip

Multiple Pie crusts
Doubling or tripling recipe is not recommended. Make the recipe for a single pie crust and repeat to make another pie crust.
